Hi,

I'm Ashlee Scott, 17 years old and my sister (Rachel) is 15. We hope you enjoy our films! No, we're not some rich kids (could not be further from the truth). Every once in awhile someone emails about that. Just know that Rachel and I work two jobs to finance these films ourselves. Rachel and I do everything ourselves - costumes, sets, writing, photography, editing, etc. Our Mom taught us. Just so everyone visiting this site understands that. We have a dream to be filmmakers and we're working towards it. Simple as that.

M - Mom
A - Ashlee
R - Rachel

Now . . . on to the bio. =)

UPDATE:

It's been less than a year since Ashlee and Rachel began filming paranormal investigations for Darkness Radio. During this time, they were trained by the top paranormal investigators in the field: Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson from TAPS (Sci Fi Channel's Ghost Hunters), Patrick "Sonic" Burns from Court TV's "Haunting Evidence," and Chris Fleming from the Biography Channel's "Dead Famous."

They have investigated the scariest places in this country: The Queen Mary, the Stanley Hotel, Eastern State Penitentiary, Waverly Hills Sanatorium and Rolling Hills, NY.

Rachel especially has become known for being a fearless investigator and is considered one of the top paranormal investigators and the most experienced sixteen-year-old in the field.

EPISODE II:

In January 2006, our Return of the King parody, which we produced when we were only 12 & 14, screened in Pasadena, California at the One Ring Celebration (ORC) for scores of Lord of the Rings fans, received a standing ovation. We also met Elijah Wood, Billy Boyd, Sean Astin, Miranda Otto, John Noble & Daniel Reeve.

TheOneRing.net (TORN) approached us about putting our film online for millions of LOTR fans worldwide to see. They were true to their word and within a matter of weeks, TORN put our film online and officially introduced a couple of teenage filmmakers from Mason, Ohio to the Tolkien community. Our lives changed overnight.

In mid-April, we saw an announcement for another film contest on TORN spoofing a parody that had yet to be released. How does one make a film parody based on a movie with little or no information? Quite a challenge. With little information and only six weeks to complete the film, we began production of our Dork of the Rings fan film, based on the film by Tim Richardson. In his film, Hobbits live on a golf course and are controlled by a company known as “Dork Mart.”

The director asked us to send him some of the stock footage we shot in California to be used in his actual film, for which we received a camera credit in his theatrical release version. He also asked us to film an interview of ourselves. We didn’t like the idea of doing a boring sit down interview, so we wrote a Behind the Scenes parody to introduce ourselves.

Our Dork of the Rings fan film won the contest. We were awarded a cameo appearance in their movie as Hobbits ourselves and our winning fan film appears on their “Special Features” 2-disc set. We're even on the IMDB for our work on that film.

With the film competition behind us, we were hard at work on our next film production for ELF in New York (July 2006) - Middle Earth Idols, a parody of American Idols with Lord of the Rings characters, featuring such highlights as Denethor singing “Disco Inferno” and Frodo performing to “Thriller.” Rachel played all the characters, except the host and Aragorn. I once again served as director and editor.

It was a HUGE hit. Middle Earth Idols won the music video contest at ELF. On Sunday, Middle Earth Idols returned for an encore presentation. Plus, we were given an hour to answer questions from fans and screen our Return of the King parody and winning Dork of the Rings fan film.

Without time to rest, we had GenCon in Indianapolis (August 2006) to prepare for. Our new Dork friends were screening their film there and asked us to attend the world premiere. Our Return of the King parody and Dork of the Ring fan film were Official Selections of the GenCon Film Festival and would be showing over three of the 4 day/24hr a day gaming and film convention. Rachel was also playing in the Halo 2 tournament.

September brought us to Dragon*Con in Atlanta where our Return of the King parody, Dork of the Rings fan film, Behind the Scenes parody and Middle Earth Idols where being screened at the Tolkien programming track that weekend. And, Middle Earth Idols was playing at TheOneRing.net booth all weekend. We also had an hour-long panel on Monday to answer questions. Always fun! Lots of familiar faces, such as Emerald Rose and fans we had previously met at ELF and ORC, but now we had over 40,000 new Science Fiction & Fantasy fans to conquer!

Day One, we met Kiran Shah, who played Elijah Wood’s stunt double in the LOTR trilogy. Kiran has starred in over 70 movies including Star Wars and Chronicles of Narnia. He recognized us from our fan films and introduced himself. Wow. We had a three hour dinner with Kiran Shah on Sunday night, which was amazing! This was a star studded weekend and no time to sleep, 4 days/24 hours a day. We were filming all weekend, so we had our work cut out for us.

One of our all time favorite shows is the X-Files, so we were thrilled to meet Dean Haglund, who played Langly (one of the Lone Gunmen). He’s great! We met so many celebrities that weekend, too many to mention, Mickey Rooney, George A. Romero, Kevin Sorbo, Grant Wilson & Jason Hawes from the hit series, Ghost Hunters, among them.

We left that long, exhausting weekend with new friends and hours of footage. We produced a Dragon*Con a 4 minute short film for TheOneRing.net. We also produced a GenCon film and a 30 minute Dragon*Con film too. We've been getting a lot of play on YouTube and thanks to the Onering.net we get thousands of visitors to our website every month.

After ELF, we were asked to produce an extended Middle Earth Idols with the Top 12 contestants. We began production and decided that we wanted to have celebrities judge the performances of the LOTR characters. We contacted Kiran Shah soon after Dragon*Con and he happily agreed to be one of our judges! We asked Dean Haglund (X-Files) to be one of our celebrity judges too. He said YES!!! Now, we’d be working with someone we’d been watching on TV since …birth.

We’d been in contact with New Zealander Daniel Reeve (LOTR) since ELF. We asked if he’d be a guest judges in our film and he also agreed! We still keep in contact with Grant Wilson (Ghost Hunters) also agreed to be one of our film’s celebrity judges. He’s a talented musician too and will be working with us on our film soundtrack for On the Wings of Dragons. We asked Michael Regina, Co-founder of TheOneRing.net to be a judge and he also agreed. The Celtic band Emerald Rose will be appearing in our film as special musical guests.

These celebrities are working with us free of charge, donating time to help two young filmmakers. They believe in us a great deal for which we are truly grateful.

Early in November, we asked the convention committee of Starbase Indy if we could come and film at their convention. Starbase Indy was awesome. The celebrities and fans were just wonderful.

We actually filmed Dean’s role as a Middle Earth Idol judge while we were at Starbase Indy. I couldn’t believe I was actually directing “Langly” of X-Files myself! Alexis Cruz agreed to do a part for us too, so we filmed him that weekend also.

We're well into production of Middle Earth Idols II for ORC in March 2007. Creation has set aside a two hour time slot for us, plus a Q&A session.

In early November, Darkness Radio host Dave Schrader invited us to film their paranormal investigation onboard the historic Queen Mary in Long Beach, California, January 2007. They were doing a special retreat with fans, including guest Jason Hawes & Grant Wilson (Ghost Hunters) and Patrick Burns (Court TV's Haunting Evidence). That was an aamzing experience. Our film from that event will be premiering at the Stanley Hotel for the next paranormal retreat/investigation, late March.

We were invited to film again at the Stanley Hotel (where the movie The Shining was filmed) in Colorado in late March 2007 to film another investigation for Darkness Radio and the Ghost Hunters. Can't wait!

This year we’ve met so many wonderful talented people. Networking has really been a blessing. We've met CGI artists, graphic artists, musicians, actors, actresses, and directors that are there to lend a hand if we have any questions or need help.

Eleven months ago we went to California with a film we produced when we were 12 and 14, a real labor of love. Our first public screening of one of our films. It changed our lives forever. Today, we’re making films with celebrities in them! It’s been a awesome year and 2007 is looking every bit as amazing too! All that hard work has really paid off.
But, we’re doing exactly what we were meant to do and living our dream. Just not enough hours in the day!

It's been an amazing journey thus far. Not too bad for a couple of young teenage filmmakers who stepped into the arena less than a year ago. So many people have faith is us. We're grateful for that. It's wonderful having their support.

EPISODE I:

In 1998, at the ages of 7 & 9, two young film makers embarked on a journey that would take them to Middle Earth and beyond...

The oldest one follows this path in hopes of one day becoming the first American female to win an Academy Award for "Best Director."

The youngest hopes to be an actress and the first female to set foot on the Red Planet, Mars. She'll have to take time out from her busy film schedule to do this, of course... But, won't that space helmet mess up her hair?

Visit our "films" link to see the beginning of this journey. At ages 7 & 9, early productions included spoofs of "The X-Files," "Star Trek," plus original material. Finally, we were comfortable enough with filming, editing, making costumes and building sets to do the entire ROTK movie from beginning to end, and not just selected scenes as with "Fellowship" and "Two Towers." Rachel was only 12 and I was 14 when we produced our three hour long ROTK parody in 2004.

It was quite an undertaking. Rachel & I financed the movie ourselves. Our love for J.R.R. Tolkien and LOTR kept us focused and dedicated to the task at hand. We spent an entire year making the film. It was hard work, but we loved every minute of it! The response from LOTR fans has been overwhelming. And, having our ORC fan film entry featured on TheOneRing.net (TOR.n) is an honor beyond words.

Thanks to Peter Jackson for his vision of Middle Earth & King Kong. Thanks to Howard Shore for his inspiring music. Thanks to WETA Workshop and everyone that had anything to do with LOTR & King Kong. Thanks to all the fans & LOTR stars at ORC for your warm welcome into the Tolkien community. Special thanks go out to LC and TOR.n for believing in us!

Thanks to friends and relatives for enduring pre-dawn filming, below zero temperatures, long drives and poison ivy to help us in any way!
And, especially our parents for giving up every spare minute of their time to indulge our love for film making.

A very special thanks to our Mom for your strength, courage, humor, sacrifice, and for showing us how to make dreams come true. You've taught us well. We love you!

As for the film clips on this website... You'll laugh. You'll cry. Perhaps that's a bit too melodramatic, but it is our hope that you will enjoy this look back at our earlier productions.

First real movie we ever saw on video was the 1933 B&W "King Kong." The second real movie was the original "Star Wars." The first real movie we saw at the theater was in 1993, opening day, "Jurassic Park." All with Mom. How about you?

ROTK Parody Blooper: The apple scene - filmed on the side of a sloped cliff. Rachel (plays Frodo) put the apple down as she went to grab Sam. She wasn't supposed to do that. The apple rolled down the embankment about 150 ft below us. Meanwhile, we had a two hour hike into that location to begin with. And, then another two hour drive to civilization. Stopping to buy another apple was not an option.

Hence, we became mountain climbers to retrieve the apple. Case of
poison ivy soon followed. Near death experience, but had to get the
shot. Needed the apple. ;-) Ironically, the very next take - the one
we used - Rachel put the apple down again (as you see in the trailer),
luckily for us - it did not roll away this time. We might have been
forced to throw her off the cliff. ha, ha.

Most memorable accomplishment (aside from our ROTK parody) would be attending Space Camp and Space Academy. At Space Academy, I served as Space Shuttle Atlantis Commander and Rachel served as Space Shuttle Atlantis Pilot during our mission. We managed to survive hurricanes and shuttle malfunctions. It was an amazing experience. Our team was also awarded "Most Outstanding Team" and Rachel received "The Right Stuff" award for Most Outstanding Cadet. We plan to return this year for Advanced Space Academy.

In 2003, we had the honor of attending the Hall of Fame dinner honoring our nation's heroes in space and aviation. Neil Armstrong was one of many being honored. A highlight for us was meeting Senator & Astronaut John Glenn, as well as many other of our nation's heroes. Harrison Ford was the emcee.

Oh, before we forget... May the Force be with you. God Bless!
